Mohawk

Ben, or any other that may be able to help me, I recently cut my hair to have a mohawk. At the moment my hair is reasonably short but I know that in time it will grow out. I am wanting to know how, when it grows more lengthy, to hold it up better. Currently I am using the Axe hair paste and it works well, but when it grows out what should I use? I hear that boiling water and adding sugar, then placing that in a squirt bottle works nicely. Anyone have some other ideas?
