Benjamin Barley

Biography

Benjamin Barley grew up all over the western part of the united states from Idaho, to New Mexico, Colorado, Nevada and finally to the California Bay Area. Meeting a wide variety of people as well as growing up in smaller towns provided him with lessons in etiquette and manners that would have gone unlearned had he spent all his time in a larger city. A healthy curiosity about the purpose of life led this gentleman to discover such works as the 'Hagakure', a treatise on how a samurai should act in all aspects of life. This began Benjamin's voracious appetite for any type of wisdom that would help him live a more conscious and purposeful life.

The Gentleman's Drink was started in 2009 by Benjamin as an outlet to share his adventures in tasting scotch. Soon he enlisted the help of Gregory Oaks to not only drink with him, but also to wax philosophical on the proper way to live. In daily life Benjamin currently trains in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Boxing, and Krav Maga as well as maintains other hobbys such as acrylic painting, songwriting, and motorcycle riding. His younger more brash perspective on things is beautifully temperred by Gregory's experience and maturity on The Gentleman's Drink.
